National Volunteer Week, April 10-16, 2016, is about
inspiring, recognizing and encouraging people to seek out imaginative
ways to engage in their communities. I'd like to take this
opportunity to recognize with great appreciation our dedicated
volunteers who give selflessly of their time and talents day in and day
out to contribute to the mission of Community Family Centers.

Special thanks to the CFC Walk Committee and Walk
Committee Chair, Delfina Flores, for their tireless efforts to
pull together the upcoming 9th annual Family Power Walk. I hope
that you will join us on May 7, 2016 and walk with me in support of
Community Family Centers. Have you considered forming a walking
team? Theres still time! If walking isn't for you, join us
immediately after the Walk for music, games, a raffle, a silent auction

partners and supporters will celebrate the
9th annual Family Power Walk.
special event is a salute to the mothers in our community for their
efforts to help their families move toward self-sufficiency and

Mamacita’s and El Jardin Mexican Restaurants with her husband Joe.

Community Family Centers offers students between the
ages of 4-18 the opportunity to attend a daily 10 weeks summer
program. This program offers:
• Supervised, fun-filled days
• Opportunities to learn about different
• Field trips
• Fun activities such as arts and crafts,
sports and fitness, cooking and nutrition classes and more
Fresh will operate Monday through Friday, June 6-August 12,
2016, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at CFC's J. P. McGovern Sports
and Recreation Center.
Registration Fee: $20 plus $30 per week, per child, for the 10
weeks camp. Fees for Camp Fresh are payable monthly in advance.
Registration will be held August 25-29 from
3:00-6:00 p.m. at Community Family Centers. For more

Thanks to the generosity of Cliff Pearson, former CFC
Board member and his friends, several deserving children from our
Youth Services program were recently invited to attend Houston
On Saturday, April 9 Youth Services staff participated
HISD's Career Expo “When I Grow Up." During
the "When I Grow Up" expo students of all ages enjoyed
hands-on career awareness and exploration activities.
Join our fabulous Senior Citizen Group for Bingo,
laughter and friendship every Monday and Thursday at CFC from
