Young Learners School

A Unique Collaborative Partnership

The first years of a child's life are crucial to a child's development. During these early years it is important that a child receives a high quality education.  Young Learners School creates quality programs that provide preschool students with the skills necessary to be successful in kindergarten.   The Los Ninos Early Childhood Montessori Program is proud to be a Young Learners Partner site.

We extend our appreciation to Young Learners School Coaches Ms. Paula Campbell and Ms. Norma Velasquez for sharing the benefits of this partnership during a Los Ninos Parent Meeting on March 31.  For more information on our partnership with Young Learners School and the Los Ninos Early Childhood Montessori Program, please contact Director, Brittny Mandarino,  at 713-923-2316 or bmandarino@communityfamilycenters.org .

"You can not uneducate the person who has learned to read."

― Cesar Chavez

March 31, 2016 marks the 89th birthday of Cesar Chavez. Mr. Chavez was a civil rights, Latino and farm labor leader. While his childhood school education was not the best, later in life, education was his passion. He believed that, "The end of all education should surely be service to others," a belief that he practiced until his untimely death.

Our mission at Community Family Centers is to equip families with the tools they need to become self-sufficient members of the community.  We strive to achieve our mission and educate our clients through each of our four core programs because we understand and value the importance of advancement through lifelong learning.

We begin fostering the importance of education with children as young as three years old through the Los Ninos Early Childhood Montessori Program. Our Youth Services Program offers prevention education and intervention during the academic school year to students ages 5-17 at eighteen HISD schools in Houston’s Greater East End. Our Family Support Services Program educates the community through a wide range of comprehensive support services within the agency’s continuum of care. Our Adult Education Program provides courses of instruction to individuals 18 years of age or older to gain the skills and education necessary to achieve self-sufficiency and a higher standard of living. Courses offered include English as a Second Language (ESL), Adult Basic Education (ABE),  and General Educational Development Diploma (GED).

I would appreciate the opportunity to meet you and speak with you in greater detail about our programs and services related to education.  Its never to late to expand your knowledge or overcome your circumstances.  Registration for GED and ESL classes is currently underway.  Let Community Family Centers assist you in achieving your goals.  In the words of Cesar Chavez, “¡Si se puede!”

Sinceramente,

Maritza Guerrero

President/CEO
